2. Content and methodology of research activities

We we are focusing on three following fundamental issues in our educational reform efforts:

(1) Research on teaching methodology and materials, in the interest of improving students' basic academic achievement in core subjects.

(2) Research on practical uses of computers and networks, and the construction of a database of teaching materials.

(3) Investigation of the causes of school children's dislike of science; exploration of preventive measures in this regard.

These research activities are being caried out by subject area research groups and
a basic academic ability steering committee, in cooperation with

-the public school teachers of Kochi Prefecture

-Dream Net of Kochi Prefecture 2001 Plan

-Kochi Prefecture Board of Education.

Seminars and symposiums will also be held to help teachers at all levels
to develop understanding of issues at all levels, and to discuss various educational matters,
including creative teaching methods and materials.
