Since the course was an ISE course rather than and English department offering, the designer of the course was constrained by a number of factors, including:-large class size (100)-weekly meetings
-no direct instruction (only Japanese TAs supervising)
-mark-sheet type evaluation instruments
-hence limitation to only multiple choice and matching type test questions
