Now Kobe researchers have announced their new solution, which is a mixture of water, an organic compound and a chemical fertilizer. When the solution is sprayed onto a fire, it becomes sticky and smothers the fire. In an experiment with burning wood, at a prevailing wind speed of 10 meters per second, it took four minutes or more to extinguish the fire using 50 liters of water.
